welcome to dreadlockssite peace be with u on ur journey and ur girls:)
Welcome. What dreadhead soap are you thinking about? Hopefully not dreadheadHQ. There soaps are not made for locks. And never were. In fact, they were designed for a scentless hunting shampoo. They contain extremely toxic chemicals and will only cause major health problems down the line.
If you just meant dreadhead a general term, sorry about the rant. What did you have in mind?
theese are way better www.dreadlockshampoo.com dhhq is toxic garbage
welcome but no dont get nothing from dreadheadhq
Welcome to the community Terry Lynn, you sure did come to the best site on the web to learn how to dread the healthy way. So first off, stop using regular bar of soap, that will be leaving a residue inside your sections. Good for you for wanting to order the Dreadlockshampoo.com stuff, it is fantastic, believe me. For now, use a baking soda (BS) wash followed by an apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse. This will exfoliate the scalp without scrubbing. Mix 1/2 cup of BS into 5 cups of water...pour over wet head, concentrating on the scalp...let this site for 10-20 minutes....rinse well.....Now, unless you have a very oily to extremely oily scalp, you will need to follow up the BS wash with an ACV rinse to balance back the hairs PH. Mix 1-2 capfuls of ACV into 5 cups water, pour over head and rinse out within one minute. This is also a natural conditioner that will keep your hair soft.
Enjoy your journey.....peace
i hope you stopped using the crochet hook! thats soooooo bad for dreads
Take a look at my locks. I palm rolled to the point that they are probably permanently damaged. But 7 years later, they're still there. A bit weaker and thinner than I'd like. But there, nonetheless.
If you just be gentle with them from now on, you shouldn't see so much damage that you need to be worried.
We all make some mistakes during the process. That's part of what makes having a long term hair style cool. You get a chance to see what really does and doesn't work
Welcome. Eagle and Barrellady are right about the hard water/Dr. B's soap issue. If you can find the phone number, check with your local water dept. and see what your water quality is like in your watershed.
Hopefully you've learned never to crochet. It's the second most damaging thing that can be done to locks. And palm rolling isn't any better. But the damages of palm rolling can't be seen for about a year, unti; your hair grows out more and you can see that you've thinned out the roots. This damage is nearly impossible to fix once it's noticed
Welcome to the community Sandie. Life must be good for you with a groovy *old* man! If you do no more maintenance like hooks, they will lock all by their self. As for palmrolling, please see this video by Baba Fats who also palmrolled: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/video/why-not-to-palm-roll Believe it or not but it causes future damage to your dreads....Enjoy the site.....peace
Here is the map for your water type:
