Welcome. neglect is the healthiest and most rewarding. We've had many members brush out their TnR or back combed locks to start naturally. You won't regret it

Welcome to the community Tammie. You sure did come to the best site on the web to learn how to grow healthy dreadlocks that can last you a lifetime. Do all your research first, ask any questions you have. Neglect is the best method for sure, the end result of mature locks are beautiful. You will learn about different methods on here, but should you decide something other than neglect, do your dreads a favor and let them naturally separate into sections first. By just washing them and not brushing, in about two weeks time they will form into sections, that is where the hair is telling you it wants the dreads to be. So while you are learning about everything, you can do this part now, then you have begun your journey.

Here is a map of your type of water. With soft water, any dread shampoo or bar can be used, but with hard water those same shampoos and bars do not rinse out properly and slowly leave behind a residue build up. For the best products that work in all water types: www.dreadlockshampoo.com All natural ingredients!

Enjoy your future journey and this site....peace

Welcome. It's good that you stopped waxing. But unfortunately, that's not enough. Wax is a hydrocarbon, which means that it is essentially waterproof. It will stay in your locks for decades, no matter how much hot water and normal soap you use. In order to get out wax, you need a good detergent, and weeks of scrubbing 2-3 times a week.
