Welcome. NEVER palm roll. Palm rolling only does 1 of 2 things. If you do it sparingly, it doesn't do anything to create lasting knots. If you do it enough to see progress, it will severely destroy your locks. Possibly irrevocably. It's not worth the risk.
And you never need to maintain your locks, no matter what the age. The point of dreadlocks is that they maintain themselves. What do you think will need to be done later on?
