I did my first set of dreads in 2009 by going to "black salon" and having them make them, they used backcombing and wax. Second set: 2010, I backcombed and used bees wax. Third set: 2011, My friend (who had dreads) backcombed and palm rolled them then I left them alone.  Fourth set: 2018, Stopped brushing my hair for a week then backcombed and palm rolled.

"What dread shampoo do you suggest using for new dreads? Right now I'm making my own using baking soda and conditioning with apple cider vinegar.  "

"Thank you. I hated the wax so much. I'm on day 5 of not brushing my hair and using a sea salt spray to help knot the hair. Other than that, I'm doing nothing..."

don't use that! worse mistake i ever made, severely weakened my hair, baking soda will eat away your skin, acv dissolve a bone enough to tie in a knot. they are wayyyyy too harsh liquid for young dreads bars once mature
