Dreadlocks may be too big?

I have a few dreadlocks that are over 1 inch, some up to 3 inches wide. They seem to be doing well and have tightened up very much. I just recently read a blog thread that said you should separate dreads that are too big. Yet mine are in there pretty tightly with the ends completely locked up.My question: do I have to somehow rip apart these locked up dreads? Or are they okay the way they are?Any advice or help is welcome.

hmm id have to look i think its featured tho ok youd start by soaking in conditioner or olive oil then carefully comb or brush out from the tip to the roots ..gently

theres a brush i saw on tv thats suposed to very gently and effortlessly remove tangles i wonder how it would work on dreads

well its up to u the thing is dreads that thick are wayyyyyy more likely to cause issues

issues like:

mold

painful uneven pulling

if they accidently congo u got a dread thicker then yoir thigh

baba wrote up a discussion on the problems and special care super fat dreads come with

if you really want them super fat you wuill have to take extra special care of them

if you dont care how fat they are and they just happened to be massive then yea u should split them up smaller

i think i remember your picture and they were huge

each could be 6-8 dreads
