Drying out dreads?
Howdy guys!
Firstly to carify you do mean bicarbonate of soda right? We have baking powder and bicarb soda in Australia...
Anywho, I have been using the bicarb rinse/soak and have found it to be the absolute best for cleaning my scalp and keeping it clean for a bout a week (all other dread soaps etc still leave crap on my scalp that makes it feel dirty even straight after washing) BUT I have encountered a problemo- it seems to be drying out my hair really badly, stripping the colour, making it brittle and even a little chunk came out of one of my dreads eeek!
Now I'm not sure whether this is because I was using too much? As someone mentioned SE's dreads are prob a lot longer than mine (bout shoulder length) or the fact that I don't rinse with ACV ( I usually just go over them with maylee's garden soap for conditioning and to make em smell yummy)
I have stopped using it coz I'm freaked out that my dreads will start drying up and falling off but I can't stand not having a clean scalp (once you've tried it, it's hard to go back...) What kind of ratio are people using for ther hair and how long have they done it for? I'm thinking I want to minimise the amount as much as I can while still being effective.
Any pearls of wisdom or encouragement are welcome!
