Welcome. Self proclaimed "locticians" only know how to "create" unhealthy locks that will eventually make you go bald.

If they use gels, or wax, you should vigorously scrub it out. Wax NEVER washes out in normal soap and water. It's a hydrocarbon and NEEDS a detergent to wash it out

welcome but crochets 1 of the most destructive things you can do regular soap will cause residue buildup and may cause dread rot and sewing the emnds will just make them dry way slower increasing the chance of dread rot

none of that should be done just wwash with a residue free shampoo and leave them alone the ends are better off loose

Welcome. Crocheting, though, is the most damaging maintenance that can be done to locks. It breaks hairs into smaller and smaller pieces, which weakens the lock, and can make them break off in places.

Also, washing more often is healthier for your hair. 2-3 times a week is best
