Itt is such a milestone when we hit the 1 year mark. We know that our journey to mature dreads is near. Dreads are amazing, what other 'hairstyle" have we ever had and said "wow, it is one year old"? They look beautiful, congratulations
I am at my one week - I admire your beauty and your approach - peace!
Thanks again! I wrote on this photo how I regretted backcombing, and why, if you read through the comments section. If I could go back, I wouldn't have done it! Give it a read, and see how you feel about TnR after, it may or may not change your mind : Photo
Thank you! K8ekate, I didn't tear and rip, but if you read through my photos, they tell me journey. I began neglecting April of last year, and at the 2 1/2 month mark, I rubberbanded the roots for a month which gave me sufficient knots, then I removed them. By 5 months, I impatiently and regrettably backcombed my hair, but decided I did not want to follow up with any maintenance, and most of the dreads washed out and reformed naturally over time. I still don't do any maintenance on my dreads, and don't "manage" any of the loops or kinks. I am content to let them just be.
