Lol my family and friends told me that im too pretty for dreads as well. A family friend even told me it makes me less feminine. Whatever that means ahaha ! I'm not really bothered with what they say though. Have fun with your dreads. !
If you're "too pretty for locks", you will even pretty with them, and you'll bring bring the "collective pretty quota" of people with locks up. lol. I'm sure you ill rock them beautifully.
So first things first: NEVER use wax, creams, gels, any gunk you hear from anyone that you have to put in your hair to make it neater or lock faster. There is 1 approved gel I know about that should really only be used to tidy them up for special events and such. NEVER crochet your hair. It only destroys locks be breaking hairs into smaller and smaller pieces which makes the weak and fragile.
After that, get a good non residue shampoo (Anti residue is not the same as non residue). Wash 1-3 times a week and separate as needed, but you shouldn't need to start separating for a little while
My family tells me the same thing! It's really sad... But I have learned not to be bothered by it

dreads enhance beauty
but those with uglines inside them unly see ugliness and are repulsed by true beauty
dreadlocks are beautiful and if done right I think they make the wearer even more beautiful.
Welcome.
