So.. I've wanted dreads for 2 and a half years. I finally decided to do it after I graduated highschool. The only websites I had found were dreadheadhq and knottyboys, or websites only suggesting the "neglect" method. Which was not for me. So I bought a kit from dreadheadhq and I recieved it today.

First of all I would like to state that when I opened it there was white powder all over the box which I'm guessing was the "locka pepper" which was really gross and everything else was coated with it.

I do believe that I had reseached all sorts of things and I am sad that I never came across this site. :( damn you google!!! But anyway... Today after recieving the package I decided to look up if consumers prefered dreadheadhq or knotty boys. and what do I find????

WORST STUFF FOR YOU! WAX IS BAD! THIS STUFF RUINED MY DREADS!!!

And my heart sank... I spent 80 dollars on a stupid kit and some "dreadhead butter" And I will end up only getting 50 or 60 dollars back... But I was so happy that I came across this before I put the terrible stuff into my hair and ruin my dread experience.

I've decided to do the "twist and rip" method and my friends are going to help. My mom works in the area of essiential oils and such so i can do this so much more naturally.... I cant even begin to explain how happy I am that I stumbled upon this before it was to late....

I also warned my friend to stay away from those terrible people since he plans to get dreads soon too as well....

THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!

Why are they charging you a restocking fee for a damaged product?! They should NOT be reselling it to another customer. I would report them.

Aside from that, welcome to the community and I can't wait to see your dreads take shape!

Sorry that you wasted your money, but at least you didn't waste your money AND damage your dreads, so could be worse. I didn't spend as much as you, but I did buy wax, a comb and some rubber bands (which I later learned were useless anyway), so I get the frustration. But at least you've found a method you know is healthy and right for you, and that's the most important thing :)

I want to say that you should open the rest of the peppa and dump it in and send it back to them, but that's the immature and spiteful me coming out.

Just chalk it up. Get what you can from them and make sure to tell everyone you meet who wants to grow locks howirresponsiblea company they are and how damaging their products are. Then refer them to us

They told me that there is a 5 dollar restocking fee and I wont get back the shipping and handling fee or the money I have to pay to send it back. But they sent me this lame email about how they were so sorry about the powder and all this mumbo jumbo. And they still havent given me my number to send it back. Im so fed up with them.. And I cant wait to get what money I do get back to get some cool beads or tams for my babies :D

Maybe they used to, but they're not accredited by the bbb anymore. Probably got sick of the bad reviews and took themselves off their list

Why only 50 or 60? restocking fee? I'd make a big stink about that. If I get a defective product in the mail I expect to get a full refund. They should be the same. Bring that up about any other defective product. If not, you could always flood their customer review box with negative comments. They will never make it onto the sight, but it'll definitely annoy the hell out of them to have to sift through them all

Aww - that's beautiful, the bit about our dreads as nephews and nieces.

Do these companies readily give refunds? I think the best thing we can do is keep putting the word out far and wide about how damaging their products are.

Welcome, Sarah. You're not the first person who regrets money spent on DHHQ products. Keep us posted on your progress! :)
