Welcome. For natural locks, you just toss your comb, get a good dreadlocks-friendly soap, and wash 2-3 times a week. Then, as they start to tangle, you separate as needed, into individual sections.
It takes about a full year to grow mature locks. So don't freak out if hey take longer than you thought. The 4th month tends to be the messiest for most people. So it's ok if they look goofy and unruly for up to 8 months. They will begin to knot up in due course.
There are a small percentage of us that take longer than normal. About 1% of people with locks take around a year to see any change at all. I am in that 1%. So are Ixchel and a few others.
