Welcome to to your wonderful journey Christopher and to the community here. Congrats on throwing away the hook! I see you did the T&R method, never retwist them! The sections you made will need to loosen, and some may even fall out, but they need to do this in order to turn into mature dreads. If the twist are too tight then they can't do this. Your twists have created a map to where you want your dreads to be and will change so much over time. All you need to do is keep them clean, wash 2-3 times a week in the beginning, if hair gets oily then knotting may slip out. Separate any sections that are trying to join together or are forming larger than 1 inch in diameter where the hair meets the scalp. Anything larger than that takes anywhere from 24-36 hours to dry. If you want the larger sections, then go for it but just be aware of the drying time.

You will love the wide ride you have started. Keep us posted on your journey.....Peace

Welcome. Art supplies are meant for just that. Art. While locks can be beautiful, andaesthetically pleasing, they aren't mad of the material that latch hooks and crochet hooks were designed for. Only damage will come from using either one.

And NEVER retwist. Retwisting causes a condition called Traction Alopecia. This leads directly to premature baldness
