You'd use a TINY amount. Roll it in your palms. Then GENTLY palm roll it onto your locks. You can use a tiny amount and get a few locks with it. All you're looking for is to tame the loose hairs. You're not looking to get it deep inside your hair.
Aloes does condition, so when you wash it out, it may loosen up some knots a bit, but as they mature, that won't matter.
