welcome but your screwing yourself when u use the latch hook your creatting loose hairs and u absolutely do not need to damage your dreads for a job thats a lie told by wax pushers and salons to get u to buy into their crap

throw the hook away and letthem recover its going to take awhile as they will get extra fuzzy from all the damage

Welcome. But you don't have to use anything damaging to keep them tidy. There's a company here in the states that sells a great locking gel that works wonders. Dreadlockshampoo.com. Vicki prides herself on using the best ingredients. Their gel is 100% water soluble and ill not leave any residue. Most hair sprays do leave some behind and will damage your locks in the long run.

Using any type of needle or hook on your locks is a bad call. At best it just pokes holes through your locks and makes them weaker just because of that. At worst, it breaks hairs into little pieces and eventually they hairs at the tips of your locks are no longer attached to your scalp. This makes them so weak that, in time, they might snap off at random places just because of their own weight.

If you are growing your locks for any sort of spiritual reason, look into your laws about religious rights in the workplace. Most countries have laws that protect you from having to clean yourself up for jobs. I was a cook for years when my locks were just forming. There's just about no job that requires you to damage your hair.

Welcome. Nice to have someone else with older locks around. Mine aren't 10 years yet. I'm at about 6. I hope palm rolling didn't hurt your locks like it did mine. If you do it gently, it doesn't really do anything. And doing it to the point of progress hurts them dramatically.
