Welcome. As long as you keep your hair washed 2-3 times a week, not brushing is exactly how locks form

Welcome to the Community Tom. I hope you are using apple cider vinegar (ACV) after each use of the baking soda wash. Just icase you do not know the ratio: 1/2 cup baking soda (BS) to 5 cups water, mix and pour over wet head and leave on for 10 minutes, rinse out well. Next you must balance the hairs PH from using the BS. Mix 1 capful of ACV to 5 cups of water, pour over head and rinse out right away or within 1 minute. If you miss this step, you will slowly dry out your hair & it will take months to make it soft again....enjoy your journey...Peace

Welcome. Do you leave the bicard and salt in and let it dry? That will cause severe damage to your hair and scalp. With the BS wash, you need to soak your head in it for about 10 minutes. Then rinse it off really well. And since BS is a base, it raises your pH level too high. Once rinsed out, you need to do a rinse with an apple cider vinegar solution. That will lower your pH level back to a safe and healthy range.

Also, salt should never be left in your hair for more than about 2 hours. It will over dry your hair and scalp, making it brittle and weak.
