Welcome. I'm glad you stopped crocheting and palm rolling. Both methods do nothing but damage your hair.

It sounds like you're on the right path for healthy locks now

Welcome. Kelly's right. Crocheting, even once in a while only works against you. I know it can be overwhelming to want to "fix" those loose hairs. Believe me, I get it. But crocheting is the most damaging thing that can be done to locks next to felting. Every time you stick the hook through your hair, it rips tons of hairs. The it buries them inside the lock so you can't really see what's going on. As time goes on, those loose ends pop out and look frizzy. Then it seems like you need to crochet again to fix those frizzy hairs which only starts the cycle over again. Not to mention that crocheting makes your locks hard and stiff from overtightening. The most mature locks should never be hard or stiff. They should be soft and spongy.

If you just let them be, those frizzy hairs will eventually settle down and get sucked into the lock on their own

Welcome to the community, Sarah. Crochet is the worst thing you can do to your dreads. It breaks hair and creates the illusion that it requires more maintenance. throw awy the hook and let it recover. You will see lots of loose hairs popping out and it is a result of the hook, but it will eventually settle and the hairs will get sucked in.
