I don't actually need to moisturize mine too often. When it's colder, I might do it once a week, max. But only when I feel like I need to. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week, though. So I don't need to do extra moisturizing in between then
Jojoba oil is the absolute best oil to use. It is very close to what your skin naturally produces. You don't need much. Just massage some into your palms and gently run it onto your locks.
Tea Tree is the next best. It's great for keeping your hair healthy.
Many people use coconut oil, but that tends to be a little too conditioning.
Hair has natural oils in it, produced from your scalp. African textured hair tends to be dryer, and dries out faster, so it requires a little extra conditioning. But caucasian and Asian textured hair produces enough oils to maintain itself.

Oh, I don't know how I didn't notice before. But you say you used wax. That's actually going to cause huge problems later down the line. Wax is a hydrocarbon. That means it's essentially waterproof. It will NEVER wash out in normal soap and hot water. The only way to get wax out is to use a detergent and lots and lots of scrubbing. Even one session with wax can take 1 month of scrubbing 2-3 times a week, to get out. As long as it stay in, your hair will never lock up. Wax sticks your hair together, and hold loops and knots from forming. Since all locks are is a massive accumulation of knots, preventing them prevents locks.
As for the moisturizing, if you have African textured hair, moisturizing is good. If you don't, you don't need to moisturize
Exactly. The best part of growing locks, that I've found, is how good it makes you at being patient. I know that it sound cliche. But it's true. That and how great it feels to not feel the need to get ready for something every day. You can just wake up and go
