It may seem like a broken record, but don't do anything. They need to be loose, and untangle for the first 6 - 12 months. That's normal. If it doesn't happen, they won't form in a healthy way. Most people only see them be that loose for 4-8 months, though. Some longer. It took me a full year to see any changes at all, and other see mature locks form in weeks. But the key is to not mess with them.
Dreadlockshampoo.com sells a great gel designed to wash out in plain water. It works really well. But they will still be looser than you may have anticipated for a few months
Welcome. But don't palm roll at all. Especially if you have thin/fine hair. It does nothing good for locks. In fact, it will only serve to destroy them in the long run. I palm rolled for just 2 weeks, int he very beginning, and 8 years later, I am still trying to fix the damage Find more videos like this on dreadlocks forums

backcombed hair has to loosen some to transform from backcombed hair into dreads..its got to be free to move to dread
set them free and watch them thrive

in a week they can become swallowed enturelyu or break into peives leaving chinks inside forever or melt uintiok a sticky goo that stays in them forever
also they constrict and pinch weakening the roots damaging the hair
