Moving to Portland- help!

In a year or so, My husband and our two little girls will be moving to portland. I have no idea about what area's are bad and which are not (although I can't possibly imagine they are as grungy as they can be here in Louisiana), We want to settle in there, it looks like home. Any advice on what area's to avoid, if any?
