Welcome. Wax, at best, completely stops locking. Even after 2 years, when you get it out, you will see that they have not matured as far along as you might think they have. To prevent mold and rot in your hair, it's necessary to get it out. Wax removal is a very aggressive routine, and can't be done in 1 session. If you've been applying wax periodically over 2 years, it'll take a few months of scrubbing 2-3 times a week to get it all out. And wax needs a detergent to get it out.

I mean, everyone can do what they want with their locks. We're here to help people grow healthy locks, so we get enthusiastic about informing people about damaging methods. But no one is frowned upon for using other methods unless they start to push them on others. I don't even push the neglect method. I didn't use it for many of my locks, myself. Mine are a combination of TnR, back combing, interlocking, palm rolling, root rubbing, rubber band, etc...

Every time you pass the hook through a lock, it breaks hairs into smaller pieces. This creates more frizzy hairs that create the illusion that you need to crochet more. If you leave them be, they'd get sucked into a lock soon enough.
and srry iut the misscommunication its just alotta salons tr=y to claim natural means anything that uses real (as aposed to synthetic) hair and/or anything thats not a dread perm (or some extend thattio include wax) so just was trying to make it ]clear cause too many dint understand that natural dreads form naturally at all..u know
and thats why ppl think they have to have em made by a technician
its the muddying up the concept that hurts the entire understanding of what dreads are

natural dreads are formed by nature like a seed falling in the woods sprouts a treee
crochets like taking a jackhammer to concrete to "plant" a tree made of steel and fiberglass
