Welcome. Yeah, palm rolling will only do 1 of 2 things. Either it'll do nothing to help, or i'll almost irrevocable destroy your roots. backcombs not the worse either its not like id warn u not to backcomb but i wouldnt ever myself its damaging and not that effective but not nearly as bad as some others
hairddoesnt really "sself clean" it will stop over producing oils etc but dirt still accumulates in the city u can ger t a black gunk from tire rubber and oils and pollutions coating your skin/scalp/ahair u should be washing with sokmething and no not regular shampoos u can use baking soda and acv (1st tije u use it catch the rinse water and u will see how much dirt rincing only leaf behind)
or a dread soap the best dread soaos are from www.dreadlockshampoo.com and are pure bliss to wash with
Welcome. Wrapping them in wool doesn't really make much of a difference. It doesn't hurt, but it can make for a general knottyness that will need extra separating
