Hi Matt, welcome to the community and to the best site on the web for all your healthy dread information. The dreaducation section at the top of the site is a great place to start. Lots of good tips there. Is you hair that short in your profile pic? If so, there is a supplement you can purchase in the vitamin section of drug stores or many departments stores called Biotin, under 10 bucks....This promotes hair growth...just take 6000 mcg strength a day and in 3 months you will notice the growth. If you can't find that strength, it is safe to add up tablets to equal it.
Below is a map of your water type. Many dread shampoos and bars do not work well in hard water, they slowly leave behind a residue build up as they don't rinse out properly. If you have soft water, then you are lucky, any dread shampoo will do. www.dreadlockshampoo.com has products that work fantastic in all types of water, the creator is also a member on this site...we all swear by her products.
Enjoy the beginning of your journey, it is certainly a fun ride..if you have any questions, please feel free to ask us, we all help each other....peace
welcome but dont bother palm rolling
i hope no wax was used?
Welcome to the communtiy Romy. Glad you joined us. For life long healthy dreads, all you need to do from here on in is wash your dreads and separate any sections that try to join onto each other....that's it...no other maintenance. They will do major changes over the year to become mature dreads, let the changes happen, part of the process. Due to the crochet hook once, you will see little broken pieces of hair start to poke out of your dreads, but don't worry, over time they WILL get sucked back in, so let them be too. There is a wonderful group here you should join, over 80 members from the UK: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/group/ukdreadlocks
Although I did the twist and rip method, I have a post that will let you know of the changes to expect: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/just-starting-out-what-to-expect
enjoy the site and your journey, you will grow awesome strong dreadlocks.....peace
