love these! i have some branches that i collected last summer during a hike that i'm hoping to one day make into some beads. you've inspired me:)
Very cool! Thanks for the info, I never would have thought to use oil. My daughter is in wood shop and I keep trying to talk her into making me plugs or tunnels for my ears or dreadie beads. So far I've been unsuccessful I'll have to give this a try!
Basically, that's what you do. If you want the wood grain and knots to be like above you'll want to find a stick cut it, and sand off the bark rather than use some block of wood. I treated them with olive or canola oil to bring out the beauty of the color and grain (apply and let dry a few times). I also added some eucalyptus/lavender essential oils to the canola/olive oil for fungi and mold prevention, the smell is overwhelming at first but fades rather quickly.
Either would be awesome! I kinda figured just drill a hole in a small piece of wood then carve some designs?
Yes I did Mons! If you want some I can send you some, just need to lazily figure out how to ship these guys the cheapest way. Or if you want to make your own ,I could give you my techniques
oooohhh I love these!! Did you make them? And all the other beads you posted pics of?
