Welcome. You're on the right path for locks, by not caring about others opinions. But I hope you'll take this one to heart. If you're retwisting, stop. Retwisting causes too much torque on your scalp and roots. This causes a condition called Traction Alopecia, which leads directly to balding.
If you only twisted once to start, that's fine. But don't do again. Did you use any products?
I understand. I fell for the wax trap with my first set, and ended up losing 1/2 my hair to rot. It wasn't fun. I know there is a lot of info out there. And while it's great that everyone can share their opinons, there is a lot of bad advice being circulated

Welcome. But I have to warn you that palm rolling is terribly destructive. If you don't do it much, it doesn't create lasting knots. It only makes them look neat for a few hours. If you do it enough to see progress, it will destroy your roots. I did it daily for only the first 2 weeks, and 6 year later I am still trying to fix the damage:
