by all means stop crochet!!! use jojoba to condition and soften ..work it into exttra tight spots like squeezing a tube of toothpaste

loosen soften em up

crochet recovery takes a long time

they'll have to get fuzzy awhile

wax needs to come out its still in there preventing them from dreading! hair must move to dread wax prevents movement they will never dread right with weax in thenm and it never comes out unles u agressivly remove it and natural dont take patience most dread up just as fast as any other methyod mine dreaded in 2 weeks flat now crochet..that will ruin your dreads every hair u pull in breaks dozens more so u have to constantly fix rthem and do more and more damage till they fall off from being so weak and dammaged they are 1/3 the thickness they should be stiff scratchy and if u squeeze it feels like grinding broken hairs u got to throw the hook away and u got to remove wax or they will not last..u gotta just let them dread..thats it there is no other way
