So I have a question. I am doing the neglect method and I started on March 11th. I know I it is going to take a while, but even though I am not brushing and only washing with baking soda and acv, nothing seems to be locking up. I have naturally curly hair and it is suuuuuper soft

  • Is that a factor in my hair not locking up?

  • When am I going to be seeing results?

  • I know I need to be patient, but it is soooo hard, please help!!

Hi LoveBug, I will answer for you. Right now your hair is separating into sections, It won't lock up for a while. Your next stage after the sections have formed is for them to start knotting, causing loops and zig zags. This will make your sections shorter and shorter, and then they will tighten. You will see changes happen shortly. How much ACV are you using" 1 capful to 5 cups water and rinse off right away or within 1 minute. How many times do you wash a week? If it is 2-3 times, try cutting out one of the ACV rinse if you have been doing the proper ratio and proper time limit.
Have you tried using the sea salt spray? You can purchase the wonderful one from Dreadlockshampoo which is a Himalayan sea salt spray for $15 or make your own home recipe one. Sea salt is an accelerator for dreads. The mixture for sea salt is 3 1/2 tablespoons to 5 cups water. You can spray it on your hair or dump the entire amount onto a wet head. With your own mixture, it must be rinsed out within two hours or it will dry out your hair. You can instead add it to your baking soda wash which gets left in for 10-20 minutes. Do it what ever way works best for you. This does speed up the journey.
When will you see results? Well we are all different, some dread in 1 year and some by the 2nd, so hard to say. But yeah, try the sea salt...Peace
