If it is just a style for you for a short few years, then do what you want to them, but just know that they won't last for a long time. Welcome. What does she do, exactly? Hairdressers and salons are notorious for destroying locks. They use wax, creams, gels, interlocking, crochet needles, felting needles, latch hooks, and dozens of other completely destructive methods and tools to "maintain" your locks.
Unfortunately, most beauty schools don't teach how to grow healthy locks. If they do, most of their info comes from the web, where anyone can post anything about locks. So they tend to focus more on the methods that require products, so they can charge you for them.
By going to a salon, you are essentially paying someone to damage your hair, when you could get healthy locks for free.
If your end goal is to only have locks for a few year, ignore what I said. But if you want your locks to last for life, or at least 10 years, drop going to a salon. Save your money, and wash all the junk out.
If wax was used, it will NEVER wash out in normal soap and water. No matter how hot the water is. Wax is a hydrocarbon. So it is just about as waterproof as you can get. You hail will not get clean, and it will start to grow mold/mildew over time. To get wax out is very difficult, but it's possible. You need a good detergent, and a lot of time. This process can take months. But it will work.
If crocheting was used, you may want to consider how long you want locks for. Crocheted locks very rarely last 10 years. Every pass of the hook actually rips your hair into smaller and smaller pieces. This creates weak spots that can not be healed completely. Over time, those weak spots can become so weak that they can't support the weight of the lock, and snap off

but if u tell us every detail we can explain why each 1 is bad
