That looping HAS TO happen. Otherwise they won't actually lock. What you're doing by smoothing them out is delaying the process by a long time. Looping means your hair is tangling. If you let it loop, it would eventually flatten out. In a few months it would be fine.
And no wax is washable. No matter how little is there. The other products may be able to wash out. But was doesn't. It leaves a residues that slows down the process and causes major harm later on.
You're only a few months in, so you can't see the damage yet. But check out the recovery forums, and see what will happen if you keep using wax and stopping loops from forming
u use it one time uit will hurt them forever it does not ever wash out it glues hair together to li=ook like dreads but prevents actual dreading it traps water and dirt and leads to mold its pute ec=vgil and will ruin your dreads if u use it even just one time u must must must remove it its a scam and the number 1 reason for drwds being cut..its just nasty..its wax,..in yor hair he same ppl selling wax warn against residue from shampoo then sell you waterproof residue that hadrens stiffens and never comes out egven 10 ywars from mnow u will hagve wax in your dreads if u dont remove it right away
Welcome. But wax is the worst thing you can do for locks. It prevents locking at best. It's extremely hard to remove. It will never wash out in normal soap and water. Since it's a hydrocarbon, it needs a detergent to wash it out. Dawn dish soap or the wax-b-gone from dreadlockshampoo.com work best. Otherwise it just glues your hair together to look like locks. They will never progress past the first day you applied the wax. After 10 years, they will still be baby locks until you give them the ability to move.
Locks need to tangle in order to lock up.
How are you using string? Are you just wrapping your locks in it, or are you using it to tie off the ends? If you're tying off the tips, they will cause problems too. It will restrict the movement that is needed. Plus it will block water from draining out. Lock already take a while to dry. With wax, and string, you are adding so much more time, which will cause mold to grow

your dreads will never dread with wax in them thats why they have to be palm rolled root rubbed etc etc etc because wax prevents dreading
if u dont use wax u never have to do a thing,.it dreads itself
these are my dreads never backcombed never tnr'd absolutely never waxed or palm rolled ..or anything
because there was never wax they dreaded by themselves very fast very easily
and they lasted 22 years and counting
wax dreads rarely survive 4 years
they get too nasty
in fact 1 member spent 10 thousand dolars on medical bills multiple surgeries etc all because wax caused infected zits all over her body
