Wow, welcome... Like the other guys had said wax is bad. I hope you can get out the wax before you really damage your dreads worst than you already have. Wishing you a healthy Happy Dreading journey.
How many times did you use wax/over how many years? I feel it's important to say that wax is really not helping with locking, though. Even after so many years, I'd bet that the core of your locks aren't as tight as they may feel. Wax hardens and creates the illusion of mature locks.
I'm not here to say that you are wrong for using it. It's just not a healthy way to grow locks that will last a lifetime. It prevents them from getting really clean, while trapping water inside and creating a good environment for mold.
Because wax is a hydrocarbon, it NEVER washes out in normal soap and water. It requires a detergent to get it clean. What are you washing with?
Thanks for the info. Im embarrassed to admit I dont know how to navigate this site. I hope im responding to you in the right area. My hair is only about 2 1/2 inches inback and getscloseraround my neck and goes to about an inch under my jaw line in front. Your usual bob hairstyle. It grows pretty fast tho so ill just let it go and see what happens.

That's all I do now, I used to worry about it a lot but now I just let them do what they want
