Welcome. Crocheting is worse than any products. Even wax. Like Eagle said. With a detergent and a lot of scrubbing, you can get wax out. Crocheting rips your hairs into smaller and smaller pieces. This can't be fixed. With each pass of the hook, back and forth, more hairs are broken. Your locks can heal from this if you don't do it more than a few times, but it takes a long time to heal.
There is no need to try and tighten your locks. Mature locks should be soft and spongy. Not hard and stiff.
