After doing the starting process this is what it looked like. To "start" I did a very little bit of twisting, combing, and shaping. I worked very slow and steady, listening carefully to make sure I'm not ripping any hair. If I heard a rip, I'd stop. I went with this method because I feared uncomfortable sectioning, but all I did was encourage the way my hair had already sectioned itself, which (after doing some research on this website a few days after this day) I realized my hair would have done on it's own anyway. Which is why if I could go back I would continue on the neglect and washing with baking soda and water path instead of doing any kind of "starting". I say this because today I sit here and there are still little pieces of undreaded hair in between dreads that doesn't seem to get picked up. I wonder if it would have gotten picked up if I just let it do it on it's own. I think it would have!
