Welcome to the community Kimberly-Anne and to the beginning of a fantastic, soul opening adventure! The dreaducation pages at the top of the site will be of great help to you.

Expect your T&R sections to loosen, maybe even fall out. This is normal, so do not retwist any of them, just part of the journey to loosen up to form mature dreads. You will go through a phase of the frizzies with T&R. Mine lasted about a month, It will pass, so don't worry about that. In fact, don't worry about anything at all!

All you will need to do is keep them clean, wash 2-3 times a week in the beginning. Regular shampoos will leave a residue behind, so maybe start off with the Baking Soda (BS) wash and Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) rinse if you do not have any dreadlock shampoo yet. The ratio for this is 1/2 cup BS to 5 cups water, pour over head and let it sit for 10-20 minutes, this will exfoliate the scalp, no need to scrub. Next you must use an ACV rinse unless you have very oily scalp. 1 capful of ACV to 5 cups water, pour on head and rinse of right away or within one minute. This will balance the PH and is a natural conditioner. If not used you can fry you hair by only using the BS. I did this for the first year of my journey and loved it. Now I use Dreadlock Shampoo which were created with hard water in mind.

Separate any sections that are trying to join together. Best to do it when the hair is wet, gives the strands more strength.

Enjoy the crazy adventure, ride and journey.....Peace

Welcome. It's good you're avoiding products. Wax does nothing but prevents locks from progressing, and it causes mold/mildew to grow
