And don't root rub. Anything you do to your roots damaging them. You are essentially rubbing a brillo pad against your scalp. It breaks hairs and weakens your roots. It can also create sores on your scalp underneath your locks. Roots tighten on their own. There's nothing you need to do to force it along.
