Also, no rubber bands. They cause weak spots where they are, they will dissolve in hot water and be absorbed into the hair which will then get lint and stuff stuck to them. You really only have to get those bad boys separated and do nothing else. Just wash and separate when any are trying to join together. Peace
So for the last hour Ive been seperating and crocheting some even though I dont like to, I have a lot of stray hairs and loose& flat roots! Is rubber banding the roots a bad idea?
Oh no I dont want thick huge dreads, no congos, thats what I was afriad of, I dont know how to seperate them into smaller ones I have 39 I think, I want twice that many! I need help ill look at the link thanks for the feedback!
Robyn is right, your gonna have some huge congos there, huge. Is that what you are going for? Congos do look beautiful, but they do come with drawbacks:
I am not sure if you know, but congos take longer to dry, sometimes 24 hours. Congos can be very heavy when long, causing stress on the root system. Because of this, sections where they meet the root are recommended not to be larger than 1 inch. If you do not want those huge dreads, then read the following link. by the way, you can get a few sections from each one you have.
Yikes, do not crochet, this is the worst damage to dreads other than wax. Here is a posting from Soaring Eagle, his dreads are 22 years old. http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/crochet-dreads-recovery-more
