Lessons from the Locks

This year I turn 30. For five years I've been a stay at home mom, and mostly pouring myself out for my kids. Every now and then I evaluate my life, and coming up on year 30 I've really been doing some thinking and inner searching. I've been doing more things for myself and others outside my family, andI feel like I'm finding my true self once again. A season of change is upon me. My artistic nature is rising to the surface, and my new dreadlocks are an outward symbol of this change.

"Let go." This is what I keep hearing in my mind lately, and the first lesson I'm learning from my locks. Somewhere along the way I've lost my laid back attitude. "Let go." It's time to let go of all the loose hairs in my life, and embrace them for what they are. It's time to change my perspective about the kinks and the bumps. Don't freak out, it's just a sign of progress. Celebrate. Stop fixing and messing and sticking my own hand in everything. Forget about it.Let go and enjoy. Walk with pride about the imperfections of your life and the lives of others. It's these little imperfections that make you the beautiful creature you were created to be.

"When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....

And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, ....."
