Welcome. But the wax is really preventing your locks from maturing. At 3 years they should becompletelymature. But from using wax, I'm sure they aren't. Wax seeps into the core of your locks are hardens there to give the illusion of maturity, bu if you actually spend the time to wash it out, you'll notice that they will come apart.
It is also a hydrocarbon. Which means that normal soap and water will not wash it out, ever. you need a detergent to clean it out. What have you been washing with?
Welcome. Wax, at best, completely stops locking. Even after 2 years, when you get it out, you will see that they have not matured as far along as you might think they have. To prevent mold and rot in your hair, it's necessary to get it out. Wax removal is a very aggressive routine, and can't be done in 1 session. If you've been applying wax periodically over 2 years, it'll take a few months of scrubbing 2-3 times a week to get it all out. And wax needs a detergent to get it out.
