Welcome. Eagle's right. Wax prevents locks from forming. It traps water inside your locks and creates the perfect environment for mold and mildew to grow. If it's not cleaned out, it will cause your hair to rot and can start falling out. The wax will keep it looking like it's still attached, but if you leave it there long term, when you wash, it will start to fall out. I lost 1/2 of my hair to wax with my first set.

Wax is also a hydrocarbon. It will NEVER wash out in normal soap and water. It NEEDS a detergents and lots of scrubbing and time to clean it out.

Palm rolling, will only do 1 of 2 things. If you don't do it much, it won't create lasting knots. And if you do it a lot, it will damage your hair so severely that you may not be able to fix it

Welcome. The most healthy method is to just let them knot up on their own. All you really have to do is wash them with a non residue shampoo and separate them as needed.

Check out the dreaducation page for tips. You can use a starter method like TnR or back combing. TnR is much gentler than back combing and does less damage.

What you need to make sure of to to NEVER use wax or crocheting. Salons will only screw you over
