Welcome. It's good that you stopped interlocking. There're only a few things worse for locks than that.

While neither of them is retwisting or palm rolling, both of those techniques will only do severe damage to your locks, and scalp. In fact, both of them, even done separately, will cause premature baldness if done enough times.

Palm rolling only once in a while does nothing to create lasting knots. But if you do do it enough to see progress, it actually does so much damage, that your locks become thinner and thinner at the roots. This can get so bad that they can be nearly impossible to fix. I palm rolled daily for the first 2 weeks, and 7 years later I am still trying to fix the damage

Welcome to the commuity and to the beginning of a wonderful journey you have just started. Below is a map to see your water type. With soft water, any dread shampoo or bar can be used, but with hard water many of them do not rinse out fully and slowly leave behind a residue buildup. Products from www.dreadlockshampoo.com have the best ones around that work in all types of water, they are natural and smell fantastic! I also started mine with the T&R and have a posting that may help you along the way: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/just-starting-out-what-to-expect?xg_source=activity....peace
