Welcome. But if you still have rubber bands in after a year and a half, take them out. Rubber bands really work against growing locks. They prolong the process by preventing movement. They can also get sucked into the lock and rot inside

Welcome. The best and healthiest method is to just wash and separate. Dreadlockshampoo.com makes the best soaps. But Dr. Bronners is great if you have soft water. Baking soda and Apple cider vinegar are great too
