JuJu, the place to go is in Glendale: Caribbean Hair Braiding; 5407 W Glendale Ave .. 623-518-4565, Gail. They have the products to maintain your dreads. It'll cost about $120 to start, I think. Mine are latchlocks, which they use a crotche needle to lock the hair that lasts about 2 months before they strat to look ratty, you can use a do' rag to sleep in to keep them smooth at nite.
I'm a hairdresser by trade & what you r having a problems with is that your hair is in realy good condition so has a will of its own, even with your dreads now u could put a permanent colour a couple of shades lighter so it takes some pigment out, if u put colour pigment in the colour also conditions your hair which is what u don't want. Drying in out abit will lock in the dreads & make your hair more pliable (do what u wantyour hairto do)
