Dreads disrupting my hoop flow!

Don't get me wrong, my dreads and my hoops are two of the things that bring me the most joy in life, but my locs keep getting in my face and tangled up in my hoop! I usually just wear my hair down. Tams tend to be too cumbersome, scarves mess up the flow of the hoop and pulling them back always knocks my hoop off of its' plane. Maybe I'm just pulling them back wrong.. Does anyone have any suggestions?
