Welcome. Like Eagle said, if you only crocheted once, it's not as bad. It still does extreme damage, and delays real progress up to 6 months. But it on't destroy your locks. However, continuing to crochet, even just a few times a year will do so much damage that over time the locks can become so weak that a slight tug will be able to snap them in half
Welcome. NEVER root rub or palm roll. Root rubbing pulls out tons of hairs, making your locks weak and brittle. Plus it creates open sores on your scalp. Palm rolling does only 1 of 2 things. If you don't do it much, it doesn't do anything to create lasting knots. It does make them look neater for a few hours. But after you wash or sleep, it undoes itself. If you do it often enough or aggressively enough to see progress, it is doing severe and permanent damage. It rips up your roots, making them thinner and thinner. This makes your locks extremely weak and fragile. Trust me. I did it for only 2 weeks, daily, in the very beginning. 7 years later I am still trying to fix the damage.
