Welcome. After you look at the dreaducation page, look through the timeline forums to see what the first few weeks/months will look like

Welcome to the community Jennifer, you certainly came to the right site to learn all about growing healthy dreadlocks. You can sure start tonight, just by throwing away your comb. You will learn about different methods on here, and which ever way you do decide to dread, let your hair section naturally first. That will happen in about 2 weeks time, just by washing with a dread friendly shampoo or bar, and by not brushing your hair anymore. During this time you can do all your research and ask any questions.

Below is a map to show you your water type. With soft water, any dread shampoo or bar will be fine, but with hard water, many of those same ones will not rinse out properly and will slowly leave behind a residue. If you need a fantastic shampoo that works with hard water: www.dreadlockshampoo.com

congrats on your decisions to dread, and to your future journey....peace
