Back combing is fine. But if you still have the bands in, they should come out. Bands are elastic, and, no matter how loose you think you put them in, they squeeze your locks too tightly and create weak spots that can easily never fix themselves. In time they can become so weak that they can't support the weight of your locks. Also, bands tend to get sucked into your locks, where they dry rot, and allow mold/mildew to grow.
Not to mention that they restrict movement. See how the hairs at the tips of your locks are all trapped together. If those hairs can't move and form knots, your locks will never progress past the first day you back combed and banded them.
