Welcome.. sorry I just read your profile that you've had dreads for 6 years... by 6 years you wouldn't need wax if you'd not used it & the crochet to start..... your locks would be locked...
Welcome. Unfortunately, wax will only destroy locks. At best, it will delay progress. Wax is sticky, and prevents hair from tangling. This stops knots from forming. At worst, and most likely, it holds water in your hair, and causes mold and mildew. This will quickly destroy your hair.
Wax is actually one of the top worst things to put in locks. Crocheting and felting are the only worst methods
well thats the thing the wax would prevent proper locking and they wont lock right till its removed
