Thank you Soaring Eagle!
I went to a local hairdresser who starts dreads on caucasian hair. I'm not sure exactly what she did! It seemed to be a combination of things. Definitely no wax was used though. And as far as the still refining... that's exactly it. One of the reasons I want access to your site! I have questions! Before I found you guys I was palm rolling. It seemed a little counter intuitive but who am I to argue? Once I found you guys, I stopped that! I do pull them apart after washing but that's about it. I leave them loose as much as possible tying them back only when I need to "look my age". I did baking soda for the first couple of washes, trying for a week in between. Then I realized if it was itchy, wash it! I found a site that had tested a long list of soap and shampoos for residue so I bought a bar of soap from Dollylocks. I've been using that ever since. I like it okay but make all my own soap for everything else and would really like to use my own home made soap but need to know how to test it for residue. Any suggestions on how to test soap for residue would be appreciated.
