well once theyre twisted once u wont need to do it again and they should be soft and free to movethe purpose of gel in african hair is to moisturize as a conditioner using it to hold is counter productiveso is not washing for long timesyour hair will dread perfectly fine ifd all u do is not comb or pick it..if you dont touch it at all and do nothing..twistings only purpose is to make the sections defined and control the size and make a "neater" dreadits often over done causeing the bald gaps between dreads if thats the look you want keep twisting but gently and not too often since it can weaken the roots but if i want a more real dread look just leave em alone and only seperate the sections if you dont want them to grow together
