now with 5 new dreads. ripped 2 of the bigger ones, one made 2 and one made 3. im really loving watching the new dreads come together. its like a second shot i get to watch some knot up the natural way instead of backcombed. half of my head is now ripped dreads it seems.

i just split them apart in the center with my fingers. it took a while for each one and some frustration and a bit of "oh god what have i gotten myself into" but they separate fine and just palm roll them a little bit and they dread up. later on around the 6 month mark i split even more and had to use a knife and scissors
How did you rip them? Thanks for the advice about the backcombed dreads. I'm feeling a little better about them.

well to start with i had 16 and now i have close to 30, and they were all backcombed/waxed.. over the 2 months ive had them i've ripped quite a few and havent reapplied wax.. so id say half-natural. the ones i rip i just palm roll into a cylinder and let nature take over from there
