Welcome. Glad you know how bad wax and creams are now. How many times did you use it? I'd be more than happy to help you clean them out if they can be salvaged. That would also depend on how often you washed.
There is a great wax remover from dreadlockshampoo.com. It's easy to use and works great.
If you don't want to wait for it to come in the mail, you can definitely start by using dawn dish soap.
Fill a big pot with the hottest water you can stand to keep your hands in long term. Squirt a very generous amount of soap into the water. Then, 1 by 1, dunk each lock into the water and massage the soap into your hair for 1 minute each. Once all of your locks have been dunked, wash them like normal. Do this routine 2-3 times a week for at least 1 month. If you used wax a lot, you'll need to do it for longer.
Once you get the wax remover, it's a spray that you spray onto each lock and massage it in then wash it out like normal.
Welcome and Happy Dreading.
Always, Hippie Love
