yes theres wax in them just removing the wax and waiting for them to dread might be enough but the permed parts will always have an odd texture so thats why many cut off the permed parts

post your salon experience uin the salon dreads recovery forum

Thank you for the info. Where I live there is not much info around about dreads or dreading, so glad I found this site. I quickly learned that the technique that was used on my dreads was not the best. I waxed my hair once after the first month, and that was almost a year ago...they don't feel like there is any in there still. My hair isn't very thick and I use dr Bronners when I wash them...so there's still some pesky wax in them?? My biggest concern was since I've had them done my hair has grown out a lot (my hair grows fast) and I've noticed that the hair that has grown in has dreaded on its own! Yeah! So question, each dread at the top for the first 4 inches has dreaded naturally while the rest of it is still the salon dread, thin and loose. Is there any way to help these guys or will I have to cut them off when my dreads get longer? Does that make sense?! :) Any info is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Welcome. It's great that you stopped waxing. But that's not enough, unfortunately. Wax is a hydrocarbon. So it will stay in your hair for decades, no matter how much boiling hot water and normal soap you use. The only way to get wax out is to use a detergent, and scrub 2-3 times a week for at least 1 month. Your locks will loosen and be frizzy for a while after than, but it's only because they aren't any more mature than if they were a few weeks old. The wax prevents them from maturing.

Welcome. Just to make sure, you're not mixing the BS and ACV together, right?
